Aktiviteter i Trinidad

The city has much to offer in terms of activities and cultural pursuits:

• La Canchánchara: This famous bar is housed in a mansion that was built in 1723 and still has its original roof made from cedar. The bar is named after a typical refreshing drink of the region made from lemon juice, honey, and rum served cold in glazed pottery.

• Museo de la Torre Manaca Iznaga: This museum houses a watch tower 44- meters high with 184 steps that Iznaga, then proprietor of many sugar plantations, used to control those enslaved who were more then willing to escape. This industrial-style tower has become a symbol of this legendary region and allows for a fantastic view of Trinidad.

• Valle de los Ingenios: This valley is literally a natural history museum for its conservation of the ruins of 12 sugar mills from the 19th century. The plantation’s large belfries, mills, huts, and instruments remain amid the aged trees and winding paths.

There is a variety of excursions to go on once in Trinidad, however, there are not included.

• Cienfuegos: A city on the southern coast of Cuba with a rich pirate heritage. Here you will find La Jagua; a fortress designed to fend off pirate invasions. This city as well is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

• Santa Clara: Santa Clara is the capital city of the Cuban province of Villa Clara located in the most central region of the island. This city was the site of the last battle in the Cuban Revolution in late 1958 led by Che Guevara.
