Every week there are about 3-4 organized activities headed by our staff who love to explain new and hidden aspects of things you may never have noticed before.
Typically there will be sports involved, an excursion to a nearby village, a visit to a cultural center or museum, or a culture class at the school. Once a week the group goes out in the evening together to relax and get to know one another. While the activities are completely voluntary they are very popular. We want you not just to learn Spanish, but also make friends and immerse yourself in the country culture.
Weekend Trips:
• Lake Atitlán: A large lake in the Guatemalan Highlands. At 320 meters deep, it is the deepest lake in Central America, and it is surrounded by volcanoes and towns and villages of the Maya civilization.
• Chichicastenango: A small and stuccowhite town, lying on the crests of mountaintops at an altitude of 1,965 meters, known for its traditional Maya Culture.
• Cobán: A city high in the mountains known as a cloud forest reserve.
• Río Dulce: A jungle river running into the Caribbean, and part of a lake and river system that has become a very popular sailboat destination.
• Tikal: Mayan ruins and jungle.
• Belize: A beautiful country to the northeast offering many different activities for one to enjoy.
